Thus Dr Guido Corbella, CEO of Ipack-Ima and Centrexpo SpA of Milan, who was recently in India to promote a major event for the print and packaging industry in Italy. Dr Corbella made two highly successful presentations – in Delhi on 12 February, and Mumbai on 14 February – which were attended by representatives of the most important associations of the Indian print industry, as well as nearly 100 key players, in both cities.
The two events were organised by Ipack-Ima SpA, Centrexpo SpA and the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce, to introduce a unique event – three exhibitions running concurrently under one roof at the new state-of-the-art Fiera Milano fair grounds: IPACK–IMA, which deals with packaging and packaging machinery, Grafitalia and Converflex, both of which deal with graphic arts, printing and converting.
“We recognise that India will be a dominant country in the industries of our organisation – printing, converting and packaging,” said Dr Corbella. “The reputation of the Italian packaging manufacturers is high and this is helping us because we have already established very good relationship from the beginning with all the relevant associations,” he noted.
Both the presentations received unreserved support from the major Indian print industry officials, including in Delhi, from Mr R N Dutta Baruah, President of the All India Federation of Master Printers and Mr Sanjay Gupta, President of the Indian Printing Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers Association. Speaking at the presentation in Mumbai, Mr Rajiv Dhar, Director, Indian Institute of Packaging, referring to the Italian machines he had personally worked on, observed that they “definitely mean quality; definitely there is something good about Italian machinery, Italian technology.” Mr Manoj Mehta, President, Bombay Master Printers’ Association, extended his wholehearted support to the exhibitions, and said that such events were excellent opportunities to strike business opportunities; while Mr Udhay Dhote, President Mumbai Mudrak Sangh, noting that the Indian printer today is exploring change, remarked, “It’s the right time for Italian manufacturers to explore business opportunities in India.”
Dr Corbella expressed great satisfaction at the reception of the forthcoming event among the Indian industries and the interest it generated, as the three exhibitions together would draw the focus of the four major industries of Processing, Printing, Packaging and Food Processing on Italy. He also extended his support to Indian delegates planning to either visit or exhibit at the shows in Italy.
