Marchesini Group at Interpack 2017: Made-in-Italy technology and food are once again the winning features. The CEO Mr. Cassani: “We are ready for the Industry 4.0 challenge”

Interpack has just ended and was a great success for the Marchesini Group. 5 thousand visitors entered the modern and bright open space booth of 1,200 square meters in Pavilion 8a throughout the exhibition week with peaks of visitors from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, China and England. Many guests were welcomed at the smart meeting room on the first floor of the booth from which they enjoyed a panoramic view of the whole hall. As expected, the Group’s restaurant was the busiest of the trade show, especially thanks to the famous “Tortellini” sent directly from Bologna to Düsseldorf, to the quality of the dishes and the traditional Italian desserts, among which were the delicious tiramisu.

Pietro Cassani, CEO of the Marchesini Group since last January, says: “what springs to mind when I look back on our recent participation at Interpack is the warm welcome our team offered all of our guests. We welcomed crowds of customers and industrial experts at our appealing and functional booth, where we discussed robotics, innovation and digitalized manufacturing, in other words Industry 4.0. This is an area where the Marchesini Group has been ahead of times, ready and reactive for years”.

The Commercial Director of the Marchesini Group, Pietro Tomasi, says he is “delighted with the great interest of customers and everyone who came to see the machines on show. On Monday and Tuesday, people even had to queue to take a look at our flagship robotic blister packaging line Integra 520 V, which was on show for the first time this year at Interpack”.

The Queen of the booth was indeed Integra 520 V, which, thanks to the innovative pushing unit with drum carton opening system to handle very high speeds and to a new system to pick-up and insert the leaflet, is truly the perfect solution not only for the thermoforming phase, but also for the following phases of the packaging process. Integra 520 V was indeed showcased with an end-of-line system made up of the new and fast FA 04, capable of producing up to 500 cartons a minute, and of the new casepacker MC 820 TT for Track and Trace requirements designed to offer a complete setup to meet the needs of customers, but also to be offered as a “standard” all-inclusive version.

Visitors were also intrigued by the counting unit Valida by Tonazzi-Vasquali Division. This machine can count 3 thousand pills a minute. Valida utilizes a new pill counting and integrity check system called “Multivision”, made up of cameras that control the correct shape, colour and height of the pills from overhead by means of laser triangulation. The software developed in-house by the Marchesini Group manages the machine with a synchronised system to guarantee the count and integrity of the pill and to detect feasible intrusions.

To confirm its outstanding level of versatility, Valida can also be used as a pre-feeder on a blister line to check the integrity of each pill and possibly reject it before it is fed into the blister. Unlike conventional cameras that control the product from the top only, Valida’s laser triangulation system is capable of detecting the thickness of the pills and consequently detecting pills broken exactly in half and rejecting them to avoid having to reject a whole blister and therefore cutting costs and increasing efficiency. Among the “most viewed” machines was the new BL A420 CWby Neri Division. This labelling machine sums up the consolidated strongholds of the BL range of machines, mainly versatility and reliability. Its load cell completely integrated into thestep conveyance system controls the weight of each package. This system is much more compact than the classical solution and the main versions of competitors on the marketplace who offer solutions with weighing units with their own conveyance system separate from the labelling machine.
